You may be aware that i am the Chair of the Society for Animation Studies Conference, hosted by Sheridan College next year from June 16-19, 2014. Although this is traditionally an academic conference, the Toronto conference is shaping up to be a exciting event that will bring together all sectors of the International Animation Community- academic, independent, industry and emergent sectors. On the 16th of June, we will co-host an Industry Day with TAAFI. It will include industry panels and workshops, some panels comprising of both industry and academics discussing animation topics from our Call for Papers. Please check out our website, and consider submitting a proposal ( or contact me directly at: sas2014(at) – DEADLINE DOES NOT APPLY TO non-academic proposals.

Hope to see you in June,
Tony Tarantini

My personal message:

I’m an alumnus of Sheridan, and TAAFI is organized by friends, so I can help with networking and guiding.

Would anyone be interested in collaborating to develop a presentation? Interactive narrative is the area for our project. I would like to hear from others doing it. I have a friend developing applications for 3D/holographic display who may help. I could get into these topics in the SAS call for proposals:

• Auteur Animation ‘interpretations and definitions of ‘the animator”
• Animation and Immersive, Interactive, Experiential applications (e.g. Gaming, Transmedia, Stereoscopy, Augmented & Virtual Reality)

Thanks, Pat
